I believe in taking a focused approach. This community has made its priorities clear, and I plan to tackle these priorities with concise vision and strategy. Advocating for our community at the civic, provincial, and federal level is at the core of my strategy. We need to fight for a holistic approach to make deep and lasting change.

Options and Opportunity
Our neighbourhood has one of the highest crime rates in the country. The protection of our community, including those who are struggling with addiction, homelessness, and mental health issues, needs to be at the forefront. We need a holistic approach that includes effective policing (and allocation of police resources), addiction and mental health support, streamlined crime reporting structures, and focusing on crime prevention through relationship building, programming and improved infrastructure (including public transit options). The city, province, and country MUST work together.
In a healthy community, residents know each other, listen to each other, and look out for each other. We can all play a role in making our community safer and more vibrant if we are empowered to do so. As a city councillor I want to create opportunities for connection through community events, increased programming for youth, and supporting organizations in the neighbourhood who are working to build community. I also want to empower residents with the tools to report neglectful landlords, criminal activity, broken infrastructure, etc. and ensure these reports are being documented and taken seriously.
Families in this community just want to have the chance to succeed. They want good opportunities for their children, stable jobs, and affordable, accessible options for food and other necessities. Unfortunately, many of these basic things remain out of reach for many of our neighbours. This is an injustice. As a councillor I cannot promise I will solve every issue alone, but I can promise that I have a clear vision, passion, and experience to ensure the voice of North Winnipeg is heard at city hall. I will fight for better options and opportunities for my neighbours.
